XXX syndrome

XXX syndrome is a chromosomal abnormality that occurs in one woman out of a thousand Females normally have two X chromosomes, one from each parent In XXX syndrome, women have 3 X chromosomes

XXX syndrome is usually caused by a violation of egg or sperm production Sometimes XXX syndrome is caused by a fetal development disorder

Many girls and women with XXX syndrome have mild or no symptoms In other cases, the symptoms may be more pronounced, including stunting

The treatment of XXX syndrome depends on the symptom and its severity
Most people have 46 chromosomes; These chromosomes contain genes that control everything from height to eye color.

One such pair of chromosomes determines sex You get one sex chromosome from each parent You always get an X chromosome from your mother, and either an X or a Y chromosome from your father If you inherit an X chromosome from your father, you will have an XX pair, making you female. If you get a Y chromosome from your father, you will be male because of the XY pair

Women with XXX syndrome have a third X chromosome This pathology is genetic, but it is not congenital It is caused by the abnormal formation of the mother's egg or father's sperm, resulting in the presence of an extra X chromosome.

When the cause is an abnormal egg or sperm, the extra chromosome is found in every cell in the body. Rarely, extra chromosomes may appear at any stage of fetal development In this case, the woman will have mosaic XXX syndrome

In the mosaic form, only a fraction of the body's cells have the third X chromosome, which is why women in the mosaic form have milder symptoms.

XXX syndrome is also called trisomy X It is also abbreviated as 47,XXX because this is where the 47th X chromosome is found.
XXX syndrome may cause no signs or symptoms If symptoms occur, they are:

  • Tall stature
  • Wrinkle in the inner corner of the eye (epicanthus)
  • Retarded mental development
  • Weak muscle tone (hypotonia)
  • Bulked big toe
  • A doctor can help you determine its cause
